FOR THIS AND EVERY LESSON.

Student's book, page 133. "Fruit" - Warm-up:

Materials: Student book (Study Bank)
Students:  Singly then whole class.
Rationale: Description; prepositions.
Method: Students each bring a fruit to class and get to know its qualities, They put the fruit on a desk, and the teacher mixes them all up. Students now direct the teacher (or a classmate) to find their fruit, giving descriptions and using prepositions of location.
Notes: As with many such activities, this is an Ice-breaker and a useful review of vocabulary.

Student's book, page 140. "Tell the Story" - Project-work:

Materials: Student book; Picture stories (Teachers' Resource 1) (Teachers' Resource 2);
Students:  Groups
Rationale: Making a story; preparation for the Project.
Method:

The teacher gives sets of picture stories (from real commercials) to students and  they proceed to make an "Ad" story considering various aspects:
"What product is this Ad advertising?"
"How does it do it?"
"What do we want to say?"
"What words can we use?"
"How can we make it interesting?"

Notes: This can be useful for students who have not yet formed an idea of what they want to advertise and how they want to do it. These picture stories (or similar ones) can become the basis of a mini-Project, to be rehearsed next lesson.z

Student's book page 141. "Cassette Journal" - Homework:

Materials: Student book, Cassette tape;
Students:  Singly, then pairs
Rationale: Self-assessment; ongoing personal record.
Method: Students expand their Cassette Journals, adding something of their own choice this time. They can talk about their learning, the course, their school life, etc. or they can read something they find interesting, such as a poem, a story  or a piece of prose.
Notes: Students will bring their Cassette Journals to the Mid-Term Evaluation Session. They will be needed again in Lesson 4 of the next Project ("Elections"), so teachers need to process and return them by then.

REMIND STUDENTS TO FILL IN "MY ATTENDANCE SHEET
(STUDY BANK) FOR THIS LESSON.

"Evaluation preparation" Classwork:

Materials:  Student book
Students:  Groups
Rationale: Evaluation preparation
Method: Students are given information about the Evaluation session (student's book, page 201) and have time to prepare for it.
Notes: In essence this is a self-assessment session, designed to motivate students to further study, so it is important they understand this distinction. It is a chance to take stock of the situation and to talk about learning needs, goals and achievements.  It is also possible for students to bring up things that they want to talk to the teacher about.

"Performance" - Project-work:

Materials:  Student book;
Students:  Groups
Rationale: Project performance
Method: Students perform whatever they have prepared. They also evaluate their own and the other groups' performances ("How was the Project?" - Study Bank), their progress ("How is my learning?") and effort ("My Project-Assessment"). All students should be able to  performing something by this stage of the course, even if it is heavily based on the Alternative Schedule
Notes: ¡¡

Student's book page 142. "Self-assessment" - Homework:

Materials:  Student book.
Students:  Singly
Rationale: Ongoing self-assessment.
Method: Students reflect on their input to this project.
Notes: As with the Cassette Journal, this can provide useful material for the "Student Conversation" in the Mid-term Evaluation Session.  The practice of filling in self-assessment sheets should continue through the course, giving students an ongoing chart of their abilities as they perceive them.
