Student's
book page 91. "Mask Activities"
- Warm-up
| Materials: |
Student's
book (Click here), masks. |
| Students: |
Whole class |
| Rationale: |
Use of masks in role-plays. |
| Method: |
Students put on their masks and
have a cocktail party, making light conversation. The masks can
help them to take on unusual opinions and to get outside of their
normal persona. |
| Notes: |
Notes:
This is an ice-breaker,
but as with others of this genre, doesn’t have
to be at the beginning of the course. Alternatives to the cocktail
party can be used for this mask activity:
 |
Police interrogation;
|
 |
Chat-show
interview. |

91."Storytelling" Project-work:
| Materials: |
Student's
book (click here to
see the student's page). |
| Students: |
Groups |
| Rationale: |
Further decision-making
about the drama that students will perform. |
| Method: |
Students use the table in the students'
book to make plans for the different scenes in their drama |
| Notes: |
Other Projects might have been
lacking in original work so far, especially if students are still
finding their feet in terms of Project work. However, this fourth
Project lends itself to some sort of production being possible
for all students and this page encourages students to think further
about their drama, by deciding on the scenes and what will happen
in them. They can even start drafting some dialogs (making
notes on the empty "Rehearsal" sheet 3 pages later in
the book) and some might want to spend
out-of-class time
preparing these items. |

book pages 92,93."Students Perceptions About
Language Learning" -
Homework:
| Materials: |

book (1) Student's
book (2) (click here

| Students: |
Singly, pairs. |
| Rationale: |
Self-assessment;
learning strategies. |
| Method: |
Students fill in a questionnaire
about their learning styles. |
| Notes: |
As with the cassette Journal (Lesson
3), this activity prepares the students
to talk about such matters in the Final Evaluation Session and
can be productively used as a class activity if wished. |
