Teacher's Notes
- Lesson 5 -

THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO TAKE THE MID-TERM EVALUATION SESSION SIGN-UP SHEET TO THE LESSON (TEACHER'S RESOURCE, ASSESSMENT SECTION).

IN THIS LESSON WE NEED SOME ENGLISH-SPEAKING NEWSPAPERS

¡¡

Student's book page 46. "Wh... questions" - Warm-up:

Materials: Student book (Click here to see the student's page.)
Newspapers;
Students: Singly or in groups
Rationale: Data collection; reading for key words; skimming for information
Method: Newspaper pages are put on the walls, or on tables. Students read them, looking for information requested on their question sheets (Student book). If an element of competition is introduced, students can be encouraged to look for the information at speed.
Notes: The questions were designed for a Korean English-newspaper. If the teacher wants to use an International newspaper, then the questions need to be modified.

Student's book page 47. "Rehearsal" - Project-work:

Materials: Student book (1) (click here to see the student page)
Students: Groups
Rationale: Project rehearsal.
Method: Students rehearse whatever they have produced so far. If they have not prepared any items yet, they can rehearse an activity in the book
Notes: When students become familiar with the idea of making Projects, lessons become a time to touch base with each other about how it is all going.

Student's book: "Legends of China - 3" - Homework:

Materials: Student book (Click here to see the student page);
Students: Singly or in groups
Rationale: Reading; Cultural study
Method: Teachers can ask students to use this page in suitable ways. For example, reading of this text could lead to further research and data collection. Students could collect similar data about myths in their own country. Students might want to make a role-play or a video.
Notes: Teachers should be flexible on the use of this page. It offers an opportunity for self-directed work and can lead to project work.

REMIND STUDENTS TO FILL IN "MY ATTENDANCE SHEET" (STUDYBANK) FOR THIS LESSON AND THE NEXT LESSON.¡¡
