Teacher's Notes
- Lesson 3 -

REMIND STUDENTS TO FILL IN THEIR ATTENDANCE SHEETS
FOR THIS AND EVERY LESSON.

Student's book page 72. "Brainstorming" - Warm-up:

Materials: Student's book (Click here);
Students: Pairs or groups
Rationale: Preparation for the Presentation; analysis of needs and intentions; brainstorming skills.
Method: Students need to start thinking in this lesson about the nature and title of their own Presentation, so this activity helps them to think about structure and to identify things that they will need (A/V aids, etc.) (see. the "Hints" at the bottom of the page - Student book)
Notes: ¡¡

Student's book page 73. "Let's Make a Survey." - Project-work:

Materials: Student's book   (Click here)
Students: Groups
Rationale: Data-collection & management
Method:    Students decide on a topic to survey and make a questionnaire/interview sheet. They then interview classmates or students in other classes and collect the data. As a follow-up they need to think about how to use this data and how to present it.
Notes: Students might want to make a questionnaire along the lines of the one in their books, or they might want to design their own form, using T/F questions or more open-ended questions. The form in the book is left blank so that they can make the questions and decide how to mark the responses: e.g. by putting a check for people who agree with a statement, or by putting a number for the degree of agreement.

Student's book page 74. "My Role" - Homework:

Materials: Student book (click here to see the student page);
Students: Groups, then singly
Rationale: Preparation
Method: Students discuss their plans (in class) for a Presentation (first four questions) and then complete the activity by adding individual information (at home) on what needs to be done by them.
Notes:

As in the notes to the previous activity, it can be useful to look at the first three questions on this sheet in class, before starting on "Let's Make a Survey". Thus the topic and its scope can be determined and the questionnaire activity will proceed more smoothly.
