The assignments
on this page are designed to help in the investigation of educational technology as an effective means of teaching English.
The focus of these assignments is practical - the use of language-learning technology in the EFL classroom.
Preparing for
the semester:
- Buy a portfolio folder and bring it to the first lesson.
- A ring-binder is a good idea for this, since pages can be moved and added.
- Post a message on the course Forum.
- Edit your Profile. Add a photo.
- Do
the Course Quiz. Submit the course quiz, print out your answers, and put them in your portfolio.

- Click on "Study links" on the home page.

worry - you will find someone eventually.

3, Sept 12, 14:

criteria sheet and bring it to class.
- Do one of the "Learning Activities" from Chapter 2 of TTELL (Technology and Teaching English Language Learners) (pages 48 & 49).
- Visit the websites on page 49 of TTELL.
- Add an entry to the Eng. Ed. Tech Glossary.
- Make sure it is automatically linked.

4, Sept 19, 21:
- Print
out a Review for the Portfolio Conference sheet.
- Fill it in, and put it in your portfolio.
- Do one of the "Learning Activities" for Chapter 3 of TTELL (pages 78 & 79).
- Visit the websites on page 79 of TTELL.
- Start thinking about your project with others in your group.
- Continue
writing to your email pal and recording your Speaking Journal.

5, Sept 26, 28:
- Have
a Portfolio Conference (1)
with members of your group. Enter the scores in the Class
Journal.
- Do one of the "Learning Activities" for Chapter 4 of TTELL (pages 110 & 111).
- Visit the websites on page 112 of TTELL.
- Print
out your emails and responses and put them in the portfolio
- every week!
- Continue
recording your Speaking Journal.
- Continue preparing
your presentation with others in your group.
Week
6, Oct 3, 5 (Chusok):
- Fill
in an ongoing
self-assessment.
- Do one of the "Learning Activities" for Chapter 5 of TTELL (page 159).
- This is a big Chapter, and the learning activities are difficult.
- Don't spend too much time on this (unless you want to!).
- Brainstorm in groups, and write down your ideas in your portfolios.
- Perhaps this assignment
could turn into a project idea.
- You
have been writing to a pen-pal for some weeks now.
Print out your emails and his/her responses and put them in the
portfolio - every week!
- Continue
