There are a number of assignments suggested for each week. When you complete these assignments, put the results in your portfolio .

Each student should make a Speaking Journal. This can be on cassette tape, MP3 files, or on Audio files (CD-Rom). The purpose of the Speaking Journal is to show how oral skills can improve through regular practice and meaningful reflection.
- The Speaking Journal is a diary.
- There should be an entry for every week of the course.
- Students can choose the topics.
- Students can choose the format.
- The Speaking Journal will be handed to the professor twice during the semester.
Make your Speaking Journal interesting, informative, reflective and creative. Think about what you can say Think about how to make it exciting.

We will be doing lots of activities in class. We will also be doing assignments, making projects, giving presentations, and assessing each other on peer-assessment sheets. In order to keep all this material in order, we need a portfolio. A ring-binder is a good idea for this, since pages can be added and moved around. Use this portfolio to keep all your materials from the classes, as well as printouts of your emails and your presentation.
Your portfolio shows what you can do. In addition to containing assignments and assessments, it is your opportunity to be creative and to present your work in an attractive and meaningful way. Think about the structure and format of your portfolio. It should not be just a collection of isolated assignments, but should tell a story about your study during the semester. When browsing through the portfolio, the reader should be taken on a learning journey in which each new page supplements and builds upon the previous pages. Because of this, it is useful to have clear sections and headings.
Assessment of the portfolios will take place regularly, and will be done by course members. See the assessment schedule for more information. Course members will make criteria for these assessments.

Assessment on this course will be student-based, and continuous. Students will assess themselves and each other, using self/peer-assessment sheets.
- Attendance and participation in class (cooperation, collaboration, creativity, etc.) 25%
- Reflection (Individual Speaking Journal) 25%
- Creativity and diligence (Portfolio - emails, assignments, materials) 25%
- Presentation lesson (group collaboration, preparation, presentation, learning content) 25%

Students will give presentations in groups. These presentations will be based on project work done by the groups durning the semester.
Each group of students should decide a MALL project that they would like to learn about.
- What would you like to learn about in MALL?
- Computer software? (How to use PhotoShop, PowerPoint, etc)
- Webpage designing? (Namo, DreamWeaver)
- Video editing? (MovieMaker)
- How to use MALL in language lessons?
Students will then make a project about their topic, and will give a presentation to the other students at the end of the semester.

The Class Journal contains all the assessment sheets and attendance sheets. It will be available during each lesson for students to enter their marks.

Don't worry. Just do your best at all times!
