Internet as a Teaching/Learning Resource

This course consists of two 75-minute periods each week for 16 weeks.
Each period will look at educational technology from a specific objective:

Period 1 (Tuesday, Classroom NE 401)
This period will be used for assignments, portfolio conferences, peer-assessment,
sample lessons, and preparation for presentations.

Period 2 (Thursday, 우당빌딩, Classroom 211)
This period will be used for practical, technology-based investigatation of ways of using
educational technology in the EFL classroom.

Weeks 1 - 4

Week 1	Introductory activities Course Introduction Email in the EFL classroom: Email pals
Week 2	Technology and Teaching English Language Learners , Chapter 1: Introduction Cassette Players - Speaking Journals, interviewing English speakers, using tapes of popular songs, etc Discussion about assessment & portfolios
Week 3	Technology and Teaching English Language Learners , Chapter 2: Understanding multimedia TV - English-speaking children's programmes, EBS.
Week 4	Technology and Teaching English Language Learners , Chapter 3: Dedicated multimedia for language learning. Using OHPs in the classroom.

Weeks 5 - 8

Technology and Teaching English Language Learners ,

Chapter 4: Exploiting authentic material on CD-ROM

CD-ROMs: courses, reference, assessment
Using videos: textbook videos, course videos

Technology and Teaching English Language Learners ,

Chapter 5: Using technology to teach reading and writing

Internet language-learning sites: Reading sites, writing sites, etc.

Chapter 6: Teaching thinking and inquiry-based learning

Authentic cassette tapes: songs, poems, essays, interviews.

Chapter 7: Culture, Community, and Diverse Learners

TV News: CNN, ABC, BBC, etc.

Weeks 9 - 12

Week 9	Technology and Teaching English Language Learners Chapter 8: Assessment and Second Language Teaching Movie videos: captioning, sub-titles, making materials for movies
Week 10	PowerPoint
Week 11	DVDs Computer: Interactive language games, puzzle sites and resources
Week 12	TV - Authentic programs: AFN, BBC, etc.

Weeks 13 - 16

Week 13	Videos: News videos, documentaries (History, nature, etc.) Presentations Begin
Week 14	Presentations
Week 15	Final portfolio assessment Assessment on the Internet
Week 16	Reflection on the course
