##The
43rd English Night##
Sat, Oct 5th, 2002!! Our traditional ceremony 'English Night' was gorgeously
completed in Information Technology Education Center. It was planned to
start at 5:30, but because of the rainy weather, the preparation was delayed
and the ceremony started at 6 O`clock.
The
first part was started with the progress of Shin Hyo-jin, Vice leader
of department. Half of 500 seats were filled up. It was composed of the
greeting of Dean, Jeon Byung Khwai, the telling of Leader of department,
Kang Hyo-jung and giving scholarship by alumnus.
At
last, second part started, Kim Bon-kyun and Jung Hye-lim, MCs, appeared
with people clapping and cheering. Musical, English Poem, Chorus and Drama
were performed. The musical, 'ÄáÁãÆÏÁã' performed by freshmen, was turned
the traditional ÆÏÁã's character into evil one. Lee Eun-young who took charge
of ÄáÁã, Park Ha-sun who took charge of ÆÏÁã acted sincerely. So they received
clapping and cheering and other character`s actings were also great.
After
finishing Musical, 'English Poem Reading' was performed by Lee Ji-eun
and An Mi-ok. They read "The Road Not Taked" and "Stopping by woods on
a Snowy Evening" with sweet voice and raised the mood of that day. Next,
in chorus freshmen and sophomores performed "I will Follow Him" and "Oh
Happy Day" with a wonderful harmony. At last, the highlight of English
Night, Drama, "Followers" by Harold Brighhouse was performed. The actors
were Shin Hyo-jin, Jang Hyun-sik, Kim Mi-young and Kim Eun-hye.They received
much praise. All sequences were advanced with comfortable and vigorous
atmosphere. And we could not omit the background worker`s hidden effort
in stage, illuminating and pictures. They were Park Ji-ho, Bang Hyo-jun
and so on.
Finishing
the successful ceremony, we continued our festival in "White World", alumnus
ceremony with English Night. Professors, several alumnus and underfraduate
students talked about the ceremony and said hello to each other without
any reluctance when drinking. Especially. Professor Park Jae-yeol praised
neatly ordered process and he expressed gratitude to Professor Finch who
directed student`s performances.
At
last, Dean said in 'a speech of encouragement' "I express my gratitude
to students who lead the English Night for 43years without skipping. The
contents of this ceremony are not changed from 1st~43th. It is our power
that we, English Education Department, show Korean`s succeeding patience.
Congratulate on " English Night" sincerely." His speech left us deep impression.
