A concept of prejudice and an adverse example of it. Park, Sung-jin
If we look in the dictionary for the literal meaning of the word, we find that a prejudice is "an adverse judgment or opinion formed beforehand or without knowledge or examination of the facts". Thus to have prejudice is to have a one-sided or uninformed perception of something or someone. Let me give you an example. If I put up an apple on the desk, you can see the front of the apple. but you can't see the back. Your judgment of the apple is based on incomplete information. It might look like a perfect apple based on what you have seen, but you don't know anything about the back or the inside of the apple.
To make a conclusion about the condition of the apple would therefore be invalid. This is a simple example, but it shows a natural process that occurs in our heads. We tend to make conclusions based on incomplete and biased information when we meet people and things that are different from us. Perceptions of race, gender, employment, age, minority, body, property, religion etc. pre-formed opinions are thus often based on prejudice - But what is worse is to have the sort of mind that enjoys forming one-sided, wrong ideas. I think this is a form of toxin of the mind. It does us great harm and have a negative and unreasonable mind, since it is a universal truth that prejudice is followed by discrimination.
As an illustration of this point let me relate an event of Japan history during the second world war, Japanese short-sighted prejudice couldn't make the perception for the ability of a larger powerful country called United States In effect, the first and last Atomic-bomb drop had been paid off in Nagasaki and Hirosima. In the end the Japanese was surrendered to the United States.
The Japan commanders whom they landed at the Southasia did not let the soldiers know the war situation and was opposing to tell the friendly how many troops were defeated and were getting hurt and the military authorities were concerned about the decrease of a morale of soldiers.
As for the Japanese soldiers and officers, in those days, they believed it could play a role to lead a war to a victory after doing a suicide act in insanity, namely, the gamigaje Operation, gamigaje means God. gaje means wind, the Japan used the one which reached in the final war's stage and By doing the gamigaje Operation, they even trusted that they would win over the war between the States and the Japan.
Even though they attack the states as the gamigaje Operation tens of thousands of times, if they perceived the possibility that there is no winning the war, they would have saved the precious lives of themselves.
Of course, there is no interest whether the Japanese would dead and stop the war personally, In here, let's get to the point. the insufficient knowledge without any consideration for the others and situations and the prejudice is based on their idea and opinion which was wrong judgement. Therefore it made them go to the tragic road ultimately. In conclusion, we there is no need to be prejudiced, since it is based on ignorance. Instead of making evil and unfounded opinions about something or someone, we should have a reasonable and objective attitude. Extreme evil prejudice should be get erased from our minds.
