Martial art or Martial hurt?

Have you heard about K-1, Pride or King of the cage? If you heard about those titles, or if your blood is stirring now, you might have virus of martial violence.

Korea has a boom of martial art sports now, you can see hitting, kicking, breaking or knocking down every day on TV, especially on the sports channel. It gets really more popular than any other sports like baseball, soccer or basketball.

PRIDE is extremely authentic fighting, in other words, this is the closest one comes to street fighting. Combative sports are supposed to be about the art of self-defense, and the object is to hit and not be hit in real combat on the street. For example, boxing is fighting mainly with hands and arms as a measure of power.

The idea is wonderful, but in a real situation, it is unrealistic to fight only with the hands.

What is necessary to bring fighting closer to reality? What is an authentic fighting style?

We usually watch sports game to manage the stress from routine life. And it’s true that more extreme the sports are, more stresses are given off. So we are eager to find more violent ones. Violence in the sports is openly exposing us including teens.

However, we also have consideration whether we accept or not.

We enjoy the sports, as just sports.
