Many people go to see colored autumn leaves when trees turn red in fall.
Let's learn how to enjoy viewing the colored autumn leaves.

1.How are maple leaves made?

Generally, the color of maple leaves is red and yellow. That is because there are coloring matters in those colors. Although the coloring matter is always in leaves, we cannot see these colors. It is usually hidden by chlorophyl. However, when the leaves get older we can often see these colors, red or yellow.

In addition, two factors affect the depth of the color.

  • *The first factor is air temperature.
Usually, leaves start to turn red when the temperature fall below 5¡É and we can see the color most clearly when it's warm during the day and it is cold at night. That is because the wider the daily temperature range is, the better the coloring matters work.
  • *The second factor is mositure.
Proper moisture makes the color deeper. Therefore the color of the maple trees in a secluded part of forest or in a valley is most beautiful. Generally, Mt. Naejang is the most famous for maple leaves. Mt. Sorak and Mt. Gaya are famous, too
